Intro to Paddle Boarding - Class Overview

Learn the basics of stand-up paddle boarding in a fun group setting. This 2.5 hour class is an exciting way to get your exercise and vitamin D for the day.  We start on dry land teaching correct paddle height and hand placement, equipment overview, kneeling and standing on a board, as well as water safety, and SUP etiquette. We then move to the water and learn how to safely get on and off the board. We will cover proper standing technique, paddling technique, turning the board, maneuvering over small waves, and self rescue techniques. Appropriate for all experience levels.

Bhive Yoga & SUP

This course is taught by Bhive Yoga & SUP. Brandy, the owner, is a livelong environmentalist and natural born “fish”, Brandy has spent the majority of her life in or on the water. Always active, Brandy began running right after college and soon began to practice yoga as a way to heal and compliment her training for races. Soon she discovered that yoga not only soothed her muscles, but her mind as well. In 2014 during a trip to Fort Lauderdale, Brandy discovered paddle boarding and fell in love. Learning that she could combine her love for the water and yoga was a no brainer! Brandy’s next goal is to become SUP Yoga certified and to teach in the Raleigh area. Brandy now teaches SUP Yoga, SUP Fitness, Yoga and Barre at ClubWorx Fuquay-Varina and during the summer at she can be found teaching SUP and SUP Yoga on the river at Cape Fear Adventures in Lillington. Brandy is a RYT200 certified instructor and also holds certifications in SUP Yoga and Fitness; Hot Yoga, Detox Yoga and American Red Cross Lifeguarding.
